Music director of Young Choral Academy of Malaysia gave music lessons at NUAE

On October 20th Susanna Saw – the Music Director of Young Choral Academy of Malaysia started her visit to NUAE. This visit aimed to share her experiences and methods of teaching, give music instruction and choral conducting instruction to NUAE music educators and students.

Her working visit to NUAE is a part of a music concert, starting Hanoi millennium celebration. Director Susanna Saw and her choir came here to participate in Hanoi millennium celebration Music Concert, which took place on October 23rd in Vietnam National Convention Center. This was considered the biggest concert in Vietnam so far in term of size organization and the numbers of performers, including famous international artists with the artistic and ideological status of some of the most well-known symphonies.

With a great understanding in music teaching and joining experience in some famous choirs in the world, Director Susanna Saw shared her experiences in successfully organizing a high-quality choir with NUAE’s educators. Besides, by her experiences in conducting research and music practice, she presented some new unique methods such as Kodály method – the method helps learners feel comfortable when access to music. She emphasized that, music education should be given to children through both traditional and modern dances and games by producing body movements under the theme of rhythm and tempo ... She expressed her hope that this method would be applied by pre-service teachers of NUAE, contributing to the development of the musical education of Vietnam in the near future. Within the framework of her visit to Vietnam, on behalf of Young Choral Academy of Malaysia, Director Susanna Saw signed the memorandum of agreement with NUAE.

With the achieved results during her working visit to NUAE, Director Susanna Saw highly appreciated the music perception ability and inquisitive spirit of NUAE ’s students. She also shared her hope for her next working trip to Vietnam and opening up a new cooperation tendency between NUAE and Young Choral Academy in the future.

 

Susanna Saw graduated from Memorial Melba Conservatorium of Music, specialized in piano and received certification on Kodály teaching method by Queensland University. She is now the Music Director of Young Choral Academy of Malaysia.

She has participated in many concerts all over the world, conducted Australian and Malaysian Choirs, one of which won the championship in both national and international music competitions.

Susanna Saw is also a member of the Executive Committee of Interkultur (Germany) and the International Choral Association and a judge member of choral competitions in particular and musical competitions in general.
