Dengue Fever rock band at NUAE

Dengue Fever’s (an America-based rock band) show on November 26th with exciting atmosphere and continuous applause made a deep impression on the staff, lecturers and students of National University of Art Education.

 

 

US Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer David Moyer and his colleagues attended the event. From NUAE’s side, there was the presence of the representatives of NUAE’s Boards of Rectors, lecturers and students.

Dr. Pham Trong Toan – NUAE’s Deputy Rector shared with distinguished guests and Dengue Fever’s members about the music training activities and highlighted the international cooperation in art education at NUAE. In recent years, the university has strengthened training activities and cultural exchange programs with universities, academies of Art and Music in many countries, including USA. The impressive performance in both Cambodian and English of USA rock band came after the opening speech, given by NUAE’s representative. The enthusiasm of the band was responded with thunderous applauds by audience.

Besides, Dengue Fever’s members also had a friendly talk with NUAE’s students on the subject of performing activities as well as learning and practicing methods to gain their success. In the music exchange part, Dengue Fever artists showed their enjoyment when listening to Vietnamese traditional songs, performed by NUAE‘s lecturers and students.

On the same day, the band had an one-night-only show at American Club (19 Hai Ba Trung Street, Hanoi) as a part of Electric Mekong Tour 2011 (to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) – after the first successful performance in CAMA music festival 2010 in Hanoi.

 

Dengue Fever was formed in 2001 in Los Angeles (USA) by Zac Holtzman and his brother Ethan. The band now consists of six members: Chom Nimol (originally from Cambodia) – vocalist, Zac Holtzman – guitarist, Ethan Holtzman – keyboardist, Senon Williams – guitarist, bass player, David Ralicke – saxophonist, Paul Smith – drummer… Their works are the mix of modern music and rock in two languages – Cambodian & English. For the last 10 years, Dengue Fever has been voted for the Best New Band of 2002, the 10 Best Records of 2006, the Best World Fusion Album at the 8th Independent Music Award…
