The choir team from Diponegoro University of Indonesia won the first ever Vietnam International Choir Festival. The NUAE choir (Vietnam) won the first prize in category A.

The First Vietnam International Choir Festival held in Hoi An, Quang Nam closed on March 19th after 4 days of performance. Roughly 1000 artists of 30 choir troupes from 11 countries competed in 6 choir categories.
Besides six first prizes, the champion award was presented to the choir from the Diponegoro University of Indonesia. The NUAE Choir (Vietnam) won the first prize for category A (mixed choir, difficulty level 1).
On March 18th, the participants also joined in an outdoor activity under the theme of “Earth Hour” to remember the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami happened in Japan. In addition, “Old quarter night” art performance offered the audience choral repertoire in 5 different places in the city.
Mr. Tran Minh Ca – Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province, head of the organizing board stated that: “Even though the participants are unprofessional artists, they impressed the audience by their professional performing style and good skills. The festival exceeded expectations.”
It is planned that, Vietnam International Choir Festival will be held once in 2 years. The next will take place in Hoi An.
