Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary had a welcome and highly appreciated the organisation of this 2nd Rectors’ conference of Vietnam - Hungary Universities. He clearly stated that Hungary and Vietnam is two regions of the world. Hungary admired the achievements of Vietnam, is an important bridge of Hungary in Southeast Asia. The two countries’ trade in goods has grown rapidly since 2017 and continues to increase in the first half of 2018, while expanding in other areas such as health, renewable energy and the environment. Hungary is a country in the Middle East that is facing great growth prospects, becoming the engine of economic growth in Europe and this will create opportunities for Vietnamese businesses. There are more than 3,000 Vietnamese graduates in Hungary and between 2019 and 2021 Hungarians have guaranteed more scholarships each year for Vietnamese students. The expansion of cooperation will provide the basis for the economic development of the two countries. The relationship between the two countries is growing, strengthening trust, creating more opportunities for economic cooperation, education between the two sides, Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stressed that the Rectors’ conference of Vietnamese-Hungarian Universities is an important and practical cooperation mechanism among colleagues in the education and training sector of two countries. Education and training are very important for the sustainable development of each nation, especially in the context of globalization, knowledge economy and the fourth industrial revolution today. The General Secretary: Vietnam-Hungary are forever friends, are comrades of each other. In its past years, the Party, the State and the Government of Vietnam have always considered education and training as a top national policy and devoted much attention and resources to develop the profession.
Up to now, although many things have to be done, in fact, Vietnam's education has achieved positive results. The national education system is improved; the scale of education is rapidly increasing, especially in the field of higher education and vocational training; the quality of education has improved significantly; equal access to education for all citizens.
Since 2000, Vietnam has completed the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the field of illiteracy eradication and universal primary education. By December 2010, all provinces and cities of Vietnam met the standard of lower secondary education. Preparing high quality human resources for development is one of the "strategic breakthroughs" of Vietnam.
In line with the demand for training and quality improvement of human resources in the new situation, Vietnam is continuing to fundamentally and comprehensively reform education and training in the direction of "standardization, modernization, socialization, people" and international integration.
Viet Nam considers this a key step in the system of solutions to improve the quality of human resources, striving in the near future to have an advanced education to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization. international integration of the country.
In order to successfully implement this consistent strategy and goal, Viet Nam attaches great importance to strengthening its international cooperation in education and training, utilise the cooperation and support of countries and international community, including Hungary.
Over the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the relationship between Vietnam and Hungary has grown steadily and achieved remarkable results in all fields of politics and diplomacy, economy, trade, health, education and training.
In recent years, the cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary in the field of education and training has been continuously strengthened, developed, concentrated and achieved results in all aspects. Viet Nam highly appreciates and thanks the Hungarian Government for providing 200 scholarships per year to Vietnamese students in the fields of study at all educational levels that Hungary has strengths.
The General Secretary suggested that there are efforts be made to utilise all 200 of these scholarships; granted more scholarships for Vietnamese students studying in Hungarian cultural, arts, linguistic and literary fields, as well as other disciplines should be encouraged, preferably in Hungarian language in order to in the near future, there will be a team of experts who deeply understand Hungary's culture and knowledge, actively contribute to the cooperation between the two countries, inherit and promote the traditional friendship between two Vietnamese-Hungarian nations.
The Secretary General highly appreciated the coordination of the two functional ministries of the two countries in organizing the 2nd Rectors’ Conference of Vietnam-Hungary Universities, with a view to further developing cooperation between the universities of the two countries, contributing to the concretization and effective implementation of the cooperation documents have been signed between the two sides.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said that the First Conference of Rectors of Vietnamese-Hungarian Universities was held in Hanoi in November 2014 with the participation of 50 universities Vietnam University and 15 Hungarian universities during the visit of Hungarian President János Áder to Vietnam.
Following the success of the First Conference, the 2nd Vietnam-Hungary Rectors' Conference was held in Budapest on the occasion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Hungary, with more than 30 universities in Vietnam and 20 Hungary's university aims to further expand relations, foster deep cooperation between universities in the two countries, and contribute to the concretization and further implementation of educational and training cooperation commitments that has been signed between the two countries.

Minister Phung Xuan Nha emphasized that cooperation in the field of education and training is an important bridge to strengthen the long-term cooperation between the two countries, deepening the solidarity between the two nations and the people of the two countries. The Minister hopes and believes that the ideas, proposals and commitments of the universities at this conference will be implemented, which will contribute to promoting cooperation in education and training between Hungary and Vietnam in the near future. Recently, the number of scholarships granted by the Hungarian Government to Vietnamese citizens has increased sharply, from five in 2012 to 100 in 2016 and now it is about 200 charities per year.
There are nearly 500 Vietnamese students studying in Hungary, of which about 50% of the students are enrolled in the Scholarship scheme between the two governments. Besides, there are also some Hungarian students to short-term internship, learning Vietnamese at universities in Vietnam.
At the Conference, the rectors of the universities concentrated on possibility cooperation of training and scientific research; in particular focusing on a number of contents that enhance the joint training program between Hungarian and Vietnamese universities.
The rectors also discussed the promotion of student and lecturer exchanges; formation of international research groups; to concretize signed cooperation agreements with detailed plans to ensure practicality, feasibility and effectiveness.
