National University of Art Education solemnly celebrated its 40th anniversary and received the national first - ranked Labour Medal in the morning of 26th May, 2010. The NUAE's development has acknowledged by efforts from the leadership, staff and students of generations, and wholehearted assistance from individuals and the government.
Attending the ceremony were the representatives of the Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Culture - Sports - Tourism, Ministry of Education & Training, Universities and Colleges Communist Party, Institutions, the relevant agencies as well as great number of NUAE's former and current lecturers, students and staff.

Over the past 40 years, NUAE has a very proud history in contributing to education in the country. NUAE has been continuously developing and making considerable contribution to Vietnam education.
Since 1967, its name has been changed many times as Pedagogic School of Physical Education - 1967; Pedagogic School of Physical Education & Music- 1968; Central Pedagogic School of Physical Education, Music, and Painting- 1970; Central Pedagogic College of Physical Education, Music, and Painting- 1980; Central Pedagogic College of Music and Painting- 1985 (In 1985, it was divided into two separated colleges: Central Pedagogic College of Physical Education( University of Physical Education) and Central Pedagogic College of Music and Painting( under the Minister Council’s decision- No: 261/HDBT, signed by Vice President To Huu on 7th November, 1985); National University of Art Education- 2006( On the 26th May, 2006, the Prime Minister signed the decision No. 117/2006/QD-TTg on the establishment of National University of Art Education.)
Starting from a training institution full of difficulties in facilities, modest teaching staff, but the school has expanded the multi-system training, with over 4.000 undergraduates in 8 majors: Music education, Vocal Singing - Musical instruments, Fine Arts, Fine Arts education, Cultural Management, Fashion Design, Painting and Graphic Design. The quantity and quality of teachers has also been improved by master and doctor accounting for 45%. In the year 2001 alone, there were 01 professor, 04 doctors, 85 masters, 01 Excellent Teacher, 01 excellent artists, 30 professional lecturers, 28 are members of Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Hanoi Fine Arts Association, 12 members of Vietnam Association of Musicians. The school currently has 22 units including 09 departments, 07 faculties, 02 centers, 01 Pedagogical Institute of Arts, 01 magazine editorial unit, 01 website. Besides highly qualified teaching which results in providing teachers of arts to meet the demand of the society, scientific research and international cooperation are also particularly focused at university. The research projects are seriously carried out to make high quality and highly realistic application. There are also a number of seminars, conferences as well as performance exchanges held to improve teachers and students' knowledge and professional skills. The university has always actively promoted to expand cooperation with numerous prestigious institutions in the field of arts education in other countries such as Nan yang Academy of Fine Arts - Singapore, University of Sea land - Denmark, Beijing university of education - China, Hoadong University of Education, Shanghai- China, Hong Kong University, Hong Kong College of Performing Arts, HOKUKEI Academy of Arts - Japan, College of Staten Island - New York - United States and many others. There have been a great deal of achievements of the Communist Party, Youth union, students union which have great attention from the school leaders.
In the coming time, the leadership as well as lecturers and students try their best to develop the tradition and achievements. We put more efforts to strive, to fulfill our tasks, cary out the art-teachers training practice actively, creatively to meet the increasing demands of the society to contribute to the national education development.

In this occasion, NUAE was greatly honored to receive the national first-ranked Labor Medal by Vietnamese President; There were some units and staff awarded Merits from the Prime Minister, Hanoi Party Committee and Minister of Education and Training.
